12. Quran verse
and the related Ahadith:
السلام عليكم
ورحمة الله وبركاتة
بِسْمِ
ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَاِذَاۤ اَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَةً فَرِحُوْا بِهَا وَاِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ اَيْدِيْهِمْ اِذَا هُمْ يَقْنَطُوْنَ
If We give
people a taste of mercy, they become prideful ˹because˺ of it. But if they are
afflicted with an evil for what their hands have done, they instantly fall into
despair. [30:36]
This is a denunciation of man for the way he is, except for those whom Allah protects and helps, for when man is given blessings, he is proud, and says: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful. (Al Quran, 11:10).
He rejoices over himself and boasts to others, but when difficulties befall him, He despairs of ever having anything good again. Allah says: Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds). They are patient during times of difficulty and do good deeds at times of ease.
Ahadith
Abu Yahya Suhaib bin Sinan (RA) reported that: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him". [Riyad as-Salihin 27 And Sahih Muslim 2999]
Jabir bin 'Abdullah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'A slave (of Allah) shall not believe until he believes in Al-Qadar, its good and its bad, such that he knows that what struck him would not have missed him, and that what missed him would not have struck him. [ Jami At Tirmidhi, 2144]
