Sufficient is Allah for everything [كَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ or [حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ

One of the most beautiful name of Allah is Allah-us-Samad meaning “The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need” Al-Ikhlas, [102:2]

Narrated Ibn `Abbas (RA):

‘When he was thrown into the fire by his people, Ibrahim (AS) said, " [حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ] Sufficient for me is Allah, and He is the best disposer of affairs,". The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said it to - "The believers unto whom the people said, 'Verily the people have gathered against you (an army), therefore, fear them" But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs." (3:173) [Sahih al-Bukhari 4564].

Allah says in in the following Ayath, “(Because they said [حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ]) “So the believers returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them. And they pursued the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty” (3:174). In another verse of Quran, Allah says, “And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him” (65:2 &3).

Thus believers made a habit of reciting this Dua [حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ] as the best Dua, during the times of anxiety, fear, stress, unfair treatment and oppression.

Sufficient is Allah for putting our trust:

Allahuthala said to His Prophet Muhammad (SAW): "Say, Sufficient for me is Allah; in Him the believers must put their trust." [Az-Zumar, 39:38]. Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger [Muhammad (SAW)] from amongst yourselves (i.e. whom you know well). It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He [(Muhammad (SAW)] is anxious over the believers, (he is) full of pity, kind, and merciful. But if they turn away, say (O Muhammad SAW): "Allah is sufficient for me. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne”. [At-Taubah, 9:128 &129]. To Allah alone belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs. [An–Nisa, 4:130]

Allah Sufficient as the Best Disposer of affairs:

They, the hypocrites of Madhina said: "We are obedient". Allah All-Knower informed and encouraged the Prophet (Muhammad SAW), “When they leave you, a section of them spend all night in planning other than what you say. But Allah records their nightly (plots). So turn aside from them (do not punish them), and put your trust in Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs” [An-Nisa, 4:81].

Allah is Sufficient as All-Knower of sinners and righteous:

And how many generations have We destroyed after Nuh (AS)! And Sufficient is your Lord as an All-Knower and All-Beholder of the sins of His slaves. [Al-Isra, 17:17]. And whoso obeys Allah and the Messenger (SAW), then they will be in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqun, the martyrs, and the righteous. And how excellent these companions are! Such is the Bounty from Allah, and Allah is Sufficient as All-Knower. [An-Nisa, 4:69 & 70].] Would that they were contented with what Allah and His Messenger (SAW) gave them (from alms, etc.) and had said: "Allah is Sufficient for us. Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger. We implore Allah (to enrich us) " [Taubah, 9:59].

Allah is Sufficient for you if anyone intend to deceive you:

The following two aayath of Quran says, if somebody deceives you Allah is sufficient to support you. “But if they intend to deceive you - then sufficient for you is Allah. It is He who supported you with His help and with the believers”. [Al-Anfal, 8:62]. “O Prophet [Muhammad (SAW)]! Allah is Sufficient for you and for the believers who follow you” [Al-Anfal, 8:64].

Allah is Sufficient as a Guardian against Shaithan:

Allah says to Shaithan, “And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Shaithan does not promise them except delusion. "Verily! My slaves (i.e. the true believers), you have no authority over them. And All-Sufficient is your Lord as a Guardian." [Al-Isra, 17:64 & 65]

Allah is Sufficient as a Protector:

“Allah has full knowledge of your enemies, and Allah is Sufficient as a Wali (Protector), and Allah is Sufficient as a Helper” [An-Nisa, 4:45].

Allah is Sufficient as a Reckoner:

Allah (SWT) said, “We shall set up balances of justice on the Day of Resurrection, then none will be dealt with unjustly in anything. And if there be the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. And Sufficient are We as Reckoners. [Al-Anbiya, 21:47]

Be just to the orphans! You will be asked on the Day of Judgement, the way you treated them. “And try orphans (as regards their intelligence) until they reach the age of marriage; if then you find sound judgement in them, release their property to them. And when you release their property to orphans, take witness in their presence; and Allah is All-Sufficient in taking account” [An-Nisa, 4:6].

He warns to, “Those who convey the Message of Allah fear Him, and fear none save Allah. And Sufficient is Allah as a Reckoner” [Al-Ahzab, 33:39].

Sufficient is Allah as a Witness to His religion, His Messengers and believers:

It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion. And sufficient is Allāh as Witness. [Al-Fath, 48:28]. We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) as a Messenger to mankind, and Allah is Sufficient as a Witness. [An-Nisa, 4:79]. The Quraish asked: "Has Allah sent a man as a Messenger?" Say: "If there were on the earth, angels walking about in peace and security, We should certainly have sent down for them from the heaven an angel as a Messenger. "Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Sufficient is Allah for a witness between me and you. Verily! He is the All-Knower, the All-Seer of His slaves." [Al-Isra, 17:94 - 96]. Say: "Sufficient is Allah for a witness between me and you and those too who have knowledge of the Scripture." [Ar-Rad, 13:43].

On the Day, when We will gather mankind all together -Then We will separate them with their "partners" who they associated with. Those partners, will say, "You did not used to worship us, "So sufficient is Allah for a witness between us and you, that We indeed knew nothing of your worship of us" [Yunus, 10:28 & 29]

Allah is Sufficient as a Witness for Quran:

Allah bears witness to that which He has sent down (the Quran) unto you (O Muhammad SAW), He has sent it down with His Knowledge, and the angels bear witness. And Allah is All-Sufficient as a Witness. [An-Nisa, 4:166]

And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, they say "This is plain magic!" Or they say: "He (Muhammad SAW) has fabricated it. " Say: "If I have fabricated it, still you have no power to support me against Allah. He knows best of what you say among yourselves concerning this Quran! Sufficient is He for a witness between me and you! And He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful." [Al-Ahqaf, 46:7 & 8]. Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder (or an admonition) for a people who believe. Say (to them O Muhammad SAW): "Sufficient is Allah for a witness between me and you. He knows what is in the heavens and on earth [Al-Ankaboot, 51 & 52]
