Do you know “Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allah,
but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself...?” [An-Nisa 4:79]
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة
ِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
Allah Subhanahu wa tha’la due to His kindness & mercy send many blessings to man. Things that comes out of His favors & His bounty are fertility of land, low prices, rains throughout the year, provision of the food, fruits, honor, help, success, family, children, good parents, good teachers, good friends, good neighbors & good rulers etc. Man cannot claim these blessings as a matter of his right or on the basis of his deeds alone. Our act of worship is very less comparable to His countless blessings. Even His forgiveness & Jannah are due to His bounty.
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): I heard Allah's Messenger
(ﷺ) saying, "The good deeds of any person will not make him enter
Paradise." (i.e., None can enter Paradise through his good deeds.) They
(the Prophet's companions) said, 'Not even you, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?' He
said, "Not even myself, unless Allah bestows His favor and mercy on
me." So be moderate in your religious deeds and do the deeds that are
within your ability: and none of you should wish for death, for if he is a good
doer, he may increase his good deeds, and if he is an evil doer, he may repent
to Allah." [Sahih al-Bukhari 5673]
Allah provide His favours to whomsoever, more or less,
according to His will. Trials are, to test people. It can be good or bad. Punishments
are due to evil deeds. As He punishes, He purifies them & pardons them.
Calamities like illness, misfortune, drought, shortage of
things and high prices are the result of necessary consequence of disobedience,
misdeeds, pride, negligence, transgression, sins, care- lessness &
forgetfulness in performing duties.
Allah says in Quran at several places:
“And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of
what your hands have earned. & He pardons much."(Ash-Shura, 42:30).
"And if Allah were to punish men for that which they
earned, He would not leave a moving (living) creature on the surface of the
earth, but He gives them respite to an appointed term, and when their term
comes, then verily, Allah is Ever All Seer of His slaves. " [Al Fatir,
35:45].
"And verily, We will make them taste of the near
torment (i.e. the torment in the life of this world, i.e. disasters,
calamities, etc.) prior to the supreme torment (in the Hereafter), in order
that they may (repent and) return (i.e. accept Islam) (As-Sajda, 32:21)"
"Evil (sins and disobedience of Allah, etc.) has appeared
on land and sea because of what the hands of men have earned (by oppression and
evil deeds, etc.), that Allah may make them taste a part of that which they
have done, in order that they may return (by repenting to Allah, and begging
His Pardon). [Ar-Room, 30:41]
During such conditions Allah advices man:
★
"So set you (O Muhammad ﷺ) your face to (the obedience of Allah, your
Lord) the straight and right religion, before there comes from Allah a Day
which none can avert it......" [Ar-Room, 30:43]
★ "Who, when afflicted with calamity,
say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return. (Al
Baqara, 2:156)"
★ "O you who believe! Seek help in
patience and As-Salat. Truly! Allah is with As-Sabirin (Al Baqara,
2:153)."
★
"......nor will He punish them while they seek (Allah's) Forgiveness (Al-Anfal,
8:33)"
★
".... Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah, that you may receive
mercy?" An-Naml, 27:46
★
"So recite as much of the Quran as may be easy (for you), and perform As-
Salat and give Zakat, and lend to Allah
a goodly loan, and whatever good you send before you for yourselves, you will
certa- inly find it with Allah, bett- er and greater in reward. And seek
Forgiveness of Allah. Verily, Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
(Al-Muzzammil, 73:20)."
الحمدلله
