Fasting on the Day of Arafath

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ

Fasting for Muslims who are not traveling or performing Hajj, fasting on this day carries an extraordinary reward that cleanses multiple years of wrongdoing. "When asked about fasting on the Day of Arafah, the Prophet (SAW) replied, "It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year." [Sahih Muslim 1162b].

But those who are performing Hajj need not to fast. Narrated Um Al-Fadl (RA): The people doubted whether Allah's Messenger (SAW) was fasting or the Day of `Arafat or not. So I sent a cup containing milk to him and he drank it. [Sahih al-Bukhari 5604]
