Question 2:
"We turned their city upside down and rained on them a shower of clay stones". [15:74]
Which city was turned upside down?
Answer: The city of Lut (AS)'s
Lut (AS) the cousin of Ibrahim (AS) has been send as a Prophet to a place, north of Dead Sea.Those people were involved in all sorts of evil deeds including high way robbery.
He said to them, “Indeed, you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds. Indeed, you obstruct the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits.” [29:28 & 29]. They threatened him: “O Lut! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." (26:167). He further cautioned them of the severe punishment. They said: “Bring Allah’s Torment upon us if you are one of the truthful.” [29:29] He prayed to Allah, “My Lord, support me against the corrupting people.” [29:30]
Meanwhile, Allah sent three angels, including Angel Jibreel, disguised as men. Lut (AS) took them as guest to his house. His people came rejoicing to his house demanding his guests, [15:61-72]. But Allah obliterated their eyes, [saying], “Taste My punishment and warning.” And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment.(54: 33-38).
We saved him and his family, all, except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. [26:169 -171]. We destroyed the others and rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. And We turned upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. [15:74].
Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. [26:173 - 174] Allah says, "Verily, you pass by them in the morning, and at night. Will you not then reflect? (37:137-138)
الحمدلله
