5. Quran and Hadith [Q & H]: Prostrating while Quran is recited:

 

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ

When reciters heard the Words of Allah, mentioning His proofs and evidences, they strated to their Lord in humility, humbleness, praise and thanks for the great favors they were blessed with.

Quran says:

Say, "Believe in it or do not believe." Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration, [17:107]

Those were the ones upon whom Allāh bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel [i.e., Jacob], and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.[19:58]

The only ˹true˺ believers in Our revelation are those who—when it is recited to them—fall into prostration and glorify the praises of their Lord and are not too proud. [32:15]

Why, when the Quran is read to them, do they not prostrate themselves [to Allah]? [84:21].

Ahadith:

Quran has 14 Sajdha Ayaath. On reciting, it is Wajib/Mustahab to perform Sajdha Tilawath.

Abu Huraira reported that the Propher (SAW) said: "When a person while reciting the Quran reaches the point of Sajdah in the surah and he does a sajdah then the Shaitaan cries and separates himself from that person and wails” O Disaster! When he was commanded to do Sajdah, he performed sajdah, thus for him, there are the gardens of Jannah. When I was commanded to do sajdah I did not do sajdah, and for me, there is the Fire.” [ Sahih Muslim, 81]

Narrated Ibn `Umar (RA): Whenever the Prophet (SAW) recited the Sura which contained the prostration of recitation he used to prostrate and then, we, too, would prostrate and some of us did not find a place for prostration. [Sahih Bukhari, 1079]

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (SAW) I prostrated while reciting An-Najm and with him prostrated the Muslims, the pagans, the jinns, and all human beings. [Sahih Bukhari, 1071]

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud: The Prophet (SAW) recited Suratan-Najm (103) at Mecca and prostrated while reciting it and those who were with him did the same except an old man who took a handful of small stones or earth and lifted it to his forehead and said, "This is sufficient for me." Later on, I saw him killed as a non-believer. [Sahih Bukhari, 1067)

Duo during Sajdha tilawath:

Ayesha (RA) narrated: “When the Prophet (SAW) would prostrate (for recitation of) the Qur’an, he would say: ‘I have prostrated my face to the One Who created it, and made its hearing and vision. [Jami` at-Tirmidhi, 3425]
