4. Quran and Hadith [Q & H]: Reciting Quran at night:

 


السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ

Quran says:

Among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allāh at night.[3:113]

Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muḥammad (SAW)], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you.

He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to determines [the time of] the night and the day and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’ān. He has known that there will be among you some  are ill and others traveling ti seek bounty of Allāh and others fighting for the cause of Allāh. So recite what is easy from it  And seek forgiveness of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.[from 73:20]

Ahadith:

Salim bin Abdhullah bun Umar (RA) the Prophet (SAW) said: Envy is not justified but in case of two persons only: one who, having been given (knowledge of) the Qur'an by Allah, recites it during the night and day and a man who, having been given wealth by Allah, spends it during the night and the day [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 815 and Sahih al-Bukhari 7529]

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (SAW) said: If anyone prays at night reciting regularly ten verses, he will not be recorded among the negligent; if anyone prays at night and recites a hundred verses, he will be recorded as obedient to Allah; and if anyone prays at night reciting one thousand verses, he will  receive huge rewards. [Sunan Abi Dawud 1398; Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 640.]

Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAW) said, “Whoever falls asleep and forgets to recite his portion of the Quran, or a part, if he recites it between the dawn and noon prayers it will be recorded as if he recited it at night.” [Sahih Muslim, 747]

Narrated Ayesha (RA): Prophet (SAW) heard a man reciting the Quran at night and said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on him, as he has reminded me of such-and-such Verses of such-and-such Surahs, which I was caused to forget." [Sahih al-Bukhari, 5038].
