2. Ramzan Quiz

 السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ

2. Who was the first person to greet Salam? To whom?

Answer: Adam (AS) to group of angels.

Narated by Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah created Adam, making him 60 cubits tall. When He created him, He said to him, “Go and greet that group of angels, and listen to their reply, for it will be your greeting (salutation) and the greeting (salutations of your offspring.” So, Adam said (to the angels), As-Salamu Alaikum (i.e. Peace be upon you). The angels said, “As-salamu Alaika wa Rahmatu-l-lahi” (i.e. Peace and Allah’s Mercy be upon you). Thus the angels added to Adam’s salutation the expression, ‘Wa Rahmatu-l-lahi,’ Any person who will enter Paradise will resemble Adam (in appearance and figure). People have been decreasing in stature since Adam’s creation. (Sahih Bukhari, Book 55, Volume 4, Hadhees Number 543).

As-Salam-u-'Alaikum is a

● divine word constantly heard in Jannah everywhere. (56:26).

● a word with a deep spiritual and moral significance.

● a watchword which should be said on every occasion when two Muslims meet

● it is used constantly to inculcate and remind the peace, mercy and blessings from Allah.

● when said fully everyone will get 30 rewards from Allah Subhanahuthala

● it is the sum and substance of Islam and the Muslims

● this word is like a good tree whose root is firm and whose branches are high in the sky. (14:24).

● yielding its fruit in every season by the permission of its Lord (14:25).

● the righteous Muslims will be welcomed with salam in Janna due to their patience.

Abu Huraira (RA) reported, Allah's Messenger ﷺ as saying: Six are the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. It was said to him: Allah's Messenger, what are these? Thereupon he said: When you meet him, offer him greetings; when he invites you to a feast accept it; when he seeks your council give him; when he sneezes and says: "All praise is due to Allah," you say Yarhamuk Allah (may Allah show mercy to you); and when he fails ill visit him; and when he dies follow his bier. (Sahih Muslim, Book 26, Number 5379)

Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'as (RA) reported: A man asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): "Which act in Islam is the best?" He (ﷺ) replied, "To give food, and to greet everyone, whether you know or you do not." [Riyad as-Salihin 844, Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
