7. What are different types of Hell-fire mentioned in the Quran?

 Ans: There are seven types of Hell fire. They are Jaheem, Sa'eer, Saqar, Ladha, Hawiyah, Hamiya and Huthama. Some scholars say these are seven types of Hell or types of gates. Allah knows best!

Jahannam:

 Jahannam is the Hell, a worst place to rest. It is an evil destination. Allah says: “Enter the gates of Hell (جَهَنَّمَ) to abide therein, and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!” (Ghafir, 40:76).

"Truly, Hell (جَهَنَّمَ) is a place of ambush. A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundary limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.). (An-Naba, 78:21 & 23).

"Surely, Allah will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell (جَهَنَّمَ)"(An Nisa,4:140).

 "Verily, those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture and Al-Mushrikun will abide نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ (the Fire of Hell). They are the worst of creatures.” (Al-Bayyina, 98: 6)

"They (i.e. the hypocrites): said, “Don’t go out for war during the heat!” Say (Muhammad ﷺ) the fire of Jahannam is even hotter if you only understood.” (At Tauba, 9: 81).

The fire of Jahannam is sixty-nine times hotter than worldly fire. The fire of Jahannam will eat away the flesh. “Every time the fire eats away their flesh We will replace it with new flesh so they can taste the punishment" (An Nisa, 4:56).

1. Saeer:

Sa’eer is the continuously burning blazing flame. To make the fire bigger it is kindled again and ignited. It is fierce, it is furious and severe in its flames. Allahuthaala says: “Whenever it subsides, We shall increase for them the fierceness of the Fire (سَعِيرًا).” (Al Isra, 17:97). “And for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared a flaming Fire (سَعِيرًا)” (Al Furqan, 25:11)

 2. Hawiya:

It is a bottomless pit of fire for the hypocrites. Hawiyah will be a very deep Hell and the culprits will be thrown into it from the height. "But as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be light, He will have his home in Hawiyah (pit, i.e. Hell)". (101:8 & 9)

3 Huthama:

It is a type of Hell fire that breaks men into pieces. It burns the heart and other internal organs and will shatter the bones. The fire will start at his feet and burn all the way through until it reaches the heart! They cannot escape from it because the Hell will be closed. "And what will make you know what the crushing Fire (الْحُطَمَةِ) is? The fire of Allah, kindled, By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell! Which leaps over the heart. Verily it shall be closed in on them. In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.) (Al Humaza, 104:4 to 9)

4. Saqar (سَقَرَ):

Its fire will burn everything. Allah says "I will cast him into Hell-fire (سَقَرَ). And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt). “Burning the skins!” (Al Mu-ddathir, 74:26-29). "What has caused you to enter (سَقَرَ) Hell? They will say: We were not of those who used to offer their Salat. Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. And we used to belie the Day of Recompense, until there came to us (the death) that is certain."(Al-Muddathir, 74:42-47)

5. Jaheem:

It is the Hell with blazing fire, where the sinners are chained.  "They who disbelieve and deny our ayath are those who will be the dwellers of the Hell-fire (الْجَحِيمِ). (Al-Maeda,5:10). (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, then throw him in the blazing Fire (الْجَحِيمَ). Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits! Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Greatest, and urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), so no friend has he here this Day, nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, none will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). (Al-Haaqqa, 69: 30 to 37).

6 & 7. Hamiya (حَامِيَةً) & Ladha (لَظَىٰ):

They are two other types of Hell fire. "They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, (حَامِيَةً). They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, (Al Ghashiya, 88:4 & 5). "By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell!  (لَظَىٰ). Taking away (burning completely) the head skin! " (Al-Maarij, 70: 15 & 16). Allah سبحانه وتعالىٰ warns the believers by saying: "O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded. (At-Tahrim, 66:6)"

Prayer:

Pray to your Creator to protect from the punishment of from Hell-Fire: (اَللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ)" O Allah! save us from the Fire” Ameen!

 رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا

"Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment." (Al-Furqan, 25:65). Ameen!

 رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

"Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!" (All Baqara, 2:201). Ameen!
