18. Ramzan Quiz

18. Which chapter of the Holy Quran has the name ‘Allah’ in every verse?

Amswer: Surah Al-Mujadila (The Pleading Woman) – Chapter 58.

1. Indeed Allah has heard the statement of her (Khaulah bint Tha’labah) that disputes with you (O Muhammad ﷺ) concerning her husband (Aus bin As-Samit), and complains to Allah. And Allah hears the argument between you both. Verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer.

2. Those among you who make their wives unlawful (Az-Zihar) to them by saying to them “You are like my mother’s back.” They cannot be their mothers. None can be their mothers except those who gave them birth. And verily, they utter an ill word and a lie. And verily, Allah is Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving.

3. And those who make unlawful to them (their wives) (by Az-Zihar) and wish to free themselves from what they uttered, (the penalty) in that case (is) the freeing of a slave before they touch each other. That is an admonition to you (so that you may not return to such an ill thing). And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

4. And he who finds not (the money for freeing a slave) must fast two successive months before they both touch each other. And for him who is unable to do so, he should feed sixty of Miskin (poor). That is in order that you may have perfect Faith in Allah and His Messenger. These are the limits set by Allah. And for disbelievers, there is a painful torment.

5. Verily, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) will be disgraced, as those before them (among the past nation), were disgraced. And We have sent down clear Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). And for the disbelievers is a disgracing torment.

6. On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all together (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and inform them of what they did. Allah has kept account of it, while they have forgotten it. And Allah is Witness over all things.

7. Have you not seen that Allah knows whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth? There is no Najwa (secret counsel) of three, but He is their fourth (with His Knowledge, while He Himself is over the Throne, over the seventh heaven), nor of five but He is their sixth (with His Knowledge), not of less than that or more, but He is with them (with His Knowledge) wheresoever they may be; and afterwards on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything.

8. Have you not seen those who were forbidden to hold secret counsels, and afterwards returned to that which they had been forbidden, and conspired together for sin and wrong doing and disobedience to the Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ). And when they come to you, they greet you with a greeting wherewith Allah greets you not, and say within themselves: “Why should Allah punish us not for what we say?” Hell will be sufficient for them, they will burn therein, and worst indeed is that destination!

9. O you who believe! When you hold secret counsel, do it not for sin and wrong-doing, and disobedience towards the Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) but do it for Al-Birr (righteousness) and Taqwa (virtues and piety); and fear Allah unto Whom you shall be gathered.

10. Secret counsels (conspiracies) are only from Shaitan (Satan), in order that he may cause grief to the believers. But he cannot harm them in the least, except as Allah permits, and in Allah let the believers put their trust.

11. O you who believe! When you are told to make room in the assemblies, (spread out and) make room. Allah will give you (ample) room (from His Mercy). And when you are told to rise up [for prayers, Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause), or for any other good deed], rise up. Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.

12. O you who believe! When you (want to) consult the Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) in private, spend something in charity before your private consultation. That will be better and purer for you. But if you find not (the means for it), then verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

13. Are you afraid of spending in charity before your private consultation (with him)? If then you do it not, and Allah has forgiven you, then (at least) perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat and obey Allah (i.e. do all what Allah and His Prophet ﷺ order you to do). And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

14. Have you (O Muhammad ﷺ) not seen those (hypocrites) who take for friends a people upon whom is the Wrath of Allah (i.e. Jews)? They are neither of you (Muslims) nor of them (Jews), and they swear to a lie while they know.

15. Allah has prepared for them a severe torment. Evil indeed is that which they used to do.

16. They have made their oaths a screen (for their evil actions). Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, so they shall have a humiliating torment.

17. Their children and their wealth will avail them nothing against Allah. They will be (the) dwellers of the Fire, to dwell therein forever.

18. On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all together (for their account), then they will swear to Him as they swear to you (O Muslims). And they think that they have something (to stand upon). Verily, they are liars!

19.  Shaitan (Satan) has overtaken them. So he has made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Shaitan (Satan). Verily, it is the party of Shaitan (Satan) that will be the losers!

20. Those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ), they will be among the lowest (most humiliated).

21. Allah has decreed: “Verily! It is I and My Messengers who shall be the victorious.” Verily, Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty.

22. You (O Muhammad ﷺ) will not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ), even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Ruh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Verily, it is the Party of Allah that will be the successful.

18. Which chapter of the Holy Quran has the name ‘Allah’ in every verse?

17. Ramzan Quiz

 17. "Allah will test you at a river; anyone who drinks from it will not be on my side; while anyone who does not taste it is with me ....." Who said this? (2:249)

Answer: Talut [Saul], the king of the Children of Israel at the time of Dawud (AS).

Talut was marching forth with his eighty thousand Israelite soldiers to fight with Goliath who has taken their land by force.  Talut said: "Allah Subhanahuthala will test them by a river". It is a river that flowed between Jordan and Palestine.

A test while crossing the river:

The soldiers marching with Talut were with little morality. They were tested for their inclination, sincerity and endurance to fight. To distinguish the worthy from the worthy less, obedient from disobedient and to select soldiers with steadfastness that is necessary in fighting, Allah preordained to test with river that they have to cross while marching.

He said to his soldiers, "Whoever then drinks from it, he is not of me, and whoever does not taste of it, he is surely of me, except he who takes with his hand as much of it as fills the hand" (2:249).

Those who drank freely never crossed the river:

In spite their king ordering to drink water a handful, most of them drank freely. They became mysteriously more incapacitated. They failed to make the grade in their hour of trial. Those who could not endure thirst even for a short while, would not be expected to remain steadfast in their fighting with an enemy. They never crossed the river.

Only few crossed the river:

The army was now reduced to hundreds. Saul crossed the river with believers, who were obedient in taking a small quantity of water from river. By seeing the strength of their enemy they said: "We have no power this day against Jalut (Goliath) and his forces.'' [2:249]

But those who believed that they were bound to meet their Lord said: “How often has a small party prevailed against a large party by the leave of Allah.” Allah is with those who remain steadfast. [2:249]

Then Allah continues in Quran:

"And when they advanced to meet Jalut (Goliath) and his forces, they invoked: "Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience, and set firm our feet and make us victorious over the disbelieving people.'' [2:250]. They defeated and overwhelmed them by Allah's aid and support.

Allah concludes by saying:

So they routed them by Allah's leave and Dawud (AS) killed Jalut (Goliath), and Allah gave him (Dawud [AS]) the kingdom (after the death of Talut) and Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and taught him of that which He willed. And if Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allah is full of bounty to the Alamin. [2:251].

Talut and Dawud (AS) helped the Children of Israel to win the land of Goliath, who was a mischief maker.

பெண் சிசுக்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டதை எதிர்த்தவர்;

16. Ramzan Quiz

16. Do you know who is "one man Umma"?

Answer: Zaid ibn Amr ibn Nufayl

Zaid bin Amr was a Quraish. He was not a muslim but a "Haneef" (a monotheist). He was the cousin of Umar bin Khattab (RA). He was much elder to Prophet ﷺ lived at Makka, before his Prophet hood. He was the father of Sa’id bin Zaid (RA), one of the ten to whom Paradise was promised.

Before the advent of Islam a group of four monotheists hated paganism and idol worship of Arab Quraish, decided to follow the religion of Ibrahim (AS). They are Uthman ibn al-Huwaytath, Ubaidullah ibn Jahsh. Waraka ibn Nufal and Zaid ibn Amr. The first three left Makka in search of monotheism and became Christians. Ubaidullah ibn Jahsh became Muslim migrated to Abyssinia and died as a Christian. Waraka ibn Nufal leant Hebrew become well versed in the Scriptures and returned to Makka and became the first Muslim. Whereas Zaid ibn Amr stayed in Makkah itself started showing strong opposition to Arab’s religious attitude.

Against idol worship:

He never worshipped idols in his lifetime. Standing in front of Kaba Zaid bin Amr stretching his hands made dua, “Ya Allah, I bear witness that I am on the religion of Ibrahim (AS) “. “Ya Allah only if I knew which of the ways are most pleasing to you, I would worship you following that way but I don’t know. But I worship you like this Ya Rabb, so I am going to do Sujud and hope that I am right.” He strongly advised many, not to worship idols.

Against killing of daughters:

Narrated Asma bint Abi Bakr(RA): I saw Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl standing with his back against the Kaaba and saying, “O people of Quraysh! By Allah, none amongst you is on the religion of Abraham except me.” He used to preserve the lives of little girls: If somebody wanted to kill his daughter he would say to him, “Do not kill her for I will feed her on your behalf.” So he would take her, and when she grew up nicely, he would say to her father, “Now if you want her, I will give her to you, and if you wish, I will feed her on your behalf.” [Bukhari]. thus he was much against female infanticide.

Against sacrificing animals to idols:

Watching the sacrificial animals to slaughter before the Quraish idols, Zaid bin Amr could not remain silent. He shouted: "O people of Quraysh! It is Allah, Who has created the sheep. He it is Who has sent down rain from the skies of which they drink and He has caused fodder to grow from the earth with which they are fed. Then even so you slaughter them in names other than His. Indeed, I see that you are an ignorant folk."

Once when Prophet ﷺ as a boy gave the meat sacrificed to idol, he never accepted that meat and he advised Prophet ﷺ not to be involved in all those rituals involving idols and not to eat that meet. From that time onwards the Prophet ﷺ never touched the meat sacrificed to idols.

He was persecuted by Quraish:

He tried hard to teach Ibrahim’s principles during Hajj season. The pagan Arabs found him more annoying and started beating him. The one who tortured him the most was none other than his uncle, Khattab, father of Umar (RA), made his life extremely uncomfortable. He was driven away from Makkah.

In search of the true monotheism:

He travelled widely in search of the true monotheism. He said, “After wandering in the four big cities, I returned back to Sham. I wandered in the city in search of someone who could talk and inform me about pure Monotheism till I reached Balkan where I spotted a church. I went close and saw a monk coming out. He inquired about me and I informed him that I was in search of the religion of Ibrahim (AS) but could not find anywhere. He responded, “You will not find a teacher of the pure monotheism because each of them have died one after another. I do not know anyone who is upon the true religion. I have a suggestion that a man, born in your own city Makkah, whose name is Muhammad (ﷺ) will revive the religion of Ibrahim (AS) so you better return to Makka and meet him”.

His Death:

But on his way to Makka, near to the Holy City he was caught by highway robbers and murdered.

Before his last breath, he prayed to Allah: “Ya Allah, if You have prevented me from attaining this good, do not prevent my son from achieving so.” And his dua was accepted and Sa‘id Ibn Zaid (RA), who was one of alʿAshara Al-Mubashsharūn.

His status in the Hereafter:

Sa‘id Ibn Zaid (RA) asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ Zaid bin Amr was as you have seen. He had heard the reports about you and if he had reached you he would have accepted faith. Shall we pray for his forgiveness?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied: "Yes, you must pray for his forgiveness. On the Judgment Day he will be raised as a complete community. He had belief (in me) and was in search of the true religion; and he died while in pursuit for it.”

In other narration, the Messenger ﷺ said, “I entered Paradise and I saw two gardens for Zayd ibn Amr. And he will be gathered as a nation on his own, between me and Isa ibn Maryam.”

Somebody asked the Prophet ﷺ, “What do you say about Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail?” He replied, “My Lord has informed me that Zaid had been wandering all around the world in search of the religion of Ibrahim (AS) and he was told to return to Makka to meet me. Therefore, when Allah sends a prophet, the people of the place to whom he is sent is called Ummah. Allah is pleased with Zaid, so he would arise (on the Day of Judgement) as an entire Ummah in himself”. This is a great honour! Zaid would be among those people who would be arising not as a person, but as an Ummah.
