19. You know our Prophet Mohammad ﷺ will be the only
one who can intercede Allahuthala for the people on the Day of judgement. Is
there any other Prophet who can do so?
Answer: No other Prophet has the power to
intercede.
This power the Prophet Mohammad ﷺ, was not a gift of
Allahuthala. But it is due to the hard earned position, Maqaman Mahamud (a
station of praise and glory) obtained by the Prophet ﷺ praying at night
strenuously, when all the others are sleeping.
Allah commanded the Prophet ﷺ to pray Thahajjud:
“And in some parts of the night offer the Salat (prayer)
with it (i.e. recite the Qur’an in the prayer), as an additional prayer
(Tahajjud) for you (O Muhammad ﷺ). It may be that your Lord will raise you to
Maqaman Mahmuda (a station of praise and glory, i.e. the highest degree in
Paradise!)”. [17:79].
His Umma, as an answer to the call for prayer (Azan)
supplicate every time, “Allah, the Lord of this perfect call and established
prayer, grant Muḥammad ﷺ the status (the highest station in Paradise) and
pre-eminence (superiority over the rest of the creation), and resurrect him to
the praiseworthy station that You have promised him.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ
said, “Whoever says [the above] after the azan shall receive my intercession on
the Day of Judgement” (Bukhari).
Hadhees about intercession:
Narrated Mabad bin Hilal Al-Anzi: “We, i.e., some people
from Basra gathered and went to Anas bin Malik, and we went in company with
Thabit Al-Bunnani so that he might ask him about the Hadith of Intercession on
our behalf. Behold, Anas (RA) was in his palace, and our arrival coincided with
his Duha prayer. We asked permission to enter and he admitted us while he was
sitting on his bed. We said to Thabit, "Do not ask him about anything else
first but the Hadith of Intercession." He said, "O Abu Hamza! There
are your brethren from Basra coming to ask you about the Hadith of
Intercession."
Anas (RA) told them a long Hadhees which he heard from
the Prophet ﷺ, who proclaimed: “When the Day of Resurrection comes, the people
will surge with each other like waves. They will state: ‘Should we not ask
[someone] to intercede for us with our Lord?’ So they will come to Adam (AS)
and will say: ‘You are the Father of mankind; Allah created you with His Hand
He made His angels bow down to you and He taught you the names of everything,
so intercede for us with you Lord so that He may give us relief form this place
where we are’. And he will say: ‘I am not in a position [to do that] - and he
will mention his wrongdoing and will feel ashamed and will say: Go to Nuh (AS),
for he is the first messenger that Allah sent to the inhabitants of the earth’.
So they will come to him and he will speak: ‘I am not in
a position [to do that] - and he will mention his having requested something of
his Lord about which he had no [proper] knowledge (Quran Chapter 11 Verses
45-46), and he will feel ashamed and will say: Go to the Friend of the Merciful,
(Ibraham [AS])’.
So they will come to him and he will declare: ‘I am not
in a position [to do that]. Go to Musa (AS), a servant to whom Allah talked and
to whom He gave the Taurah.’
So they will come to him and he will announce: ‘I am not
in a position [to do that] - and he will mention the talking of a life other
that for a life (Quran Chapter 28 Verses 15-16), and he will feel ashamed in
the sight of his Lord and will pronounce: Go to Isa ibn Marium (AS), Allah's
servant and messenger, Allah's word and spirit’.
So they will come to him and he will state: ‘I am not in
a position [to do that]. Go to Muhammad ﷺ, a servant to whom Allah has forgiven
all his wrongdoing, past and future’.
So they will come to me and I shall set forth to ask
permission to come to my Lord, and permission will be given, and when I shall
see my Lord I shall prostrate myself. He will leave me thus for such time as it
pleases Him, and then it will be said [to me]: 'O Muhammad ﷺ, raise your head
and speak, for you will be listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your
request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will say,
'O Lord, my followers! My followers!' It will be said, 'Go and take out of it
all those who have faith in their hearts equal to the weight of a barley or
wheat grain, small ant or a mustard seed.'
I will go and do so and return to
praise Him with the same praises, and fall down in prostration before Him. It
will be said, 'O, Muhammad ﷺ, raise your head and speak, for you will be
listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede,
for your intercession will be accepted.' I will say, 'O Lord, my followers!'
Then He will say, 'Go and take out (all those) in whose hearts there is faith
even to the lightest, lightest mustard seed. (Take them) out of the Fire.' I
will go and do so. Then there shall come out of Hell-fire he who has said:
There is no god but Allah and who has in his heart goodness weighing an atom’.
“Then I will come back a fourth time and praise Him with those words of praise
and I will fall prostrate before Him. He will say, ‘O Muhammad ﷺ, raise your
head. Speak and intercession will be granted to you, ask and you will be given,
intercede and your intercession will be accepted.’ I will say, ‘O Lord, give me
permission (to bring forth) all those who said La ilaha ill-Allah.’ He will
say, ‘By My Might, My Majesty, My Supremacy and My Greatness, I will most
certainly bring forth from it those who said La ilaha ill-Allah.’” (Narrated by
Al-Bukhari, 7510) "' [Sahih al-Bukhari, 7510]. It was related by Muslim,
at-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah.
The intercession of the Messenger ﷺ will be for
those:
★ among his ummah who committed
major sins.” (Sahih, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 1983).
★ whose good deeds and bad deeds
are equal, that they may enter Paradise, and for others who had been ordered to
Hell, that they may not enter it.
★ few who may enter Paradise
without being brought to account.
★ to his paternal uncle Abu
Talib, to reduce the torment of the Fire for him.
★ to the believers to relieve
them of the horrors of the Day of Judgement and granted permission to enter
Paradise.
