Answer: Fire/Hell
The dwellers of Fire are those:
* who worship others beside Allah (2:165),
* who disbelieved in the aayath of Allah (4:56),
* who deny the Hour (25: 11)
* who deny Resurrection
(17:98),
* who earned evil deeds
(10:27),
* who are led astray by
Shaithan (36:63),
* who prevent man-kind
from path of Allah (4:167),
* who are Fasiqun (32:20)
and Zalimun (18:29,7:41 & 37: 63)
* who eat up the property
of orphans (4:10),
* who reject faith after
accepting it (3:106),
* who were grouped on the Left Hand (56:41),
* whose scales (of good
deeds) are light (23:103),
* who draw themselves the
wrath of Allah (3:162),
* who took religion as an
amusement & play (7:51),
* who preferred the life
of this world forgetting the Hereafter (79:38)
* who hated to strive and
fight with their properties and their lives in the Cause of Allah (9:82),
Allah has
mentioned in the Quran:
On that Great Day of Al
Qiyama, the Hell will be brought nearer (89:23). Hell Fire shall be made
apparent in full view for EVERY ONE who sees (79:36). There is not one of you
but will pass over it (Hell); this is with your Lord, a decree (order) which must
be accomplished. (19:71). Some refer this verse to Bridge Sirat over which all
must pass to their final destination. The name of the bridge is not mentioned
in the Quran.
Hell is described in Al
- Quran:
* as a place of ambush
(78: 21),
* as a place prepared for
the disbelievers (2: 24),
* as a resting place for
worst (38:56) and evil (18: 29)
* as a place with
permanent punishment (25:65).
* as a promised place to
fill it with jinn and men al-together (11:119).
* it has Zaqqum tree with
its fruit stalks looking like the heads of Shaithan (37:63- 65).
* as a place with the
shades of black smoke, neither cool nor pleasant (56:43 & 44).
* it has seven gates, for
each gate, a special class of sinners are assigned (15:44).
* it is guarded by 19
mighty and stern angels (74:30)
* these angels disobey
not, the Commands of Allah.(66:6)
* its fuel is men and
(their worshipping) stones (2:24; 21: 98 and 99 and 66:6).
* the raging and roaring
of the blazing fire has been heard even from far away (25:12).
* the fire of which is
seventy time more intense than worldly fire.
* it is wide, deep and
with seven levels.
The sinners will be
humiliated in the Hell:
The would be dwellers will
be asked by Allah, "Seize him and fetter him, then throw him in the
blazing Fire. Then fastened with a chain of seventy cubits’ length (69: 32) Or
they are chained together in groups (25:13) gathered to Hell (prone) on their
faces (25:34) and will be dragged by their forelock and feet (55:41). They will
be given garments of tar to wear (14:50). Neither they die there nor live
(20:74). Worst indeed its destination (67:6). There is no way for them to
escape from it (18:53).
About the punishment in
the Hell:
Those who hoard up gold
and silver and spend not in the way of Allah, their gold and silver is heated
up in the Hell Fire & branded onto their fore-heads, flanks & backs
(9:34 & 35). Hell fire will surround them as a wall. And if they ask for
help (relief, water, etc.) they will be granted water like boiling oil, a
terrible drink that will scald their faces and it is an evil dwelling place
(18:29). Hypocrites will be in the lowest depth of the fire (4:145). The fire
will burn their faces and they will grin with displaced lips (23: 104).
Garments of fire will be
cut out for them (22: 19). Amid the blazing fire, boiling water will be poured
over their head (44: 47). With it, will melt or vanish away what is within
their bellies, as well as (their) skins. (22:20). Their skin become roasted and
renewed to feel constant pain (4:56). Every time when they try to get out, with
hooked iron rods they are driven back to Hell (22:22). Death will come to them
from every side. But they will not die. (14:17). The dwellers plead for their
destruction but their destruction will be oft repeated (25:13).
The dwellers of Hell
will cry:
"O Malik! (The name
of guardian angel of Hell) Let not your Lord make an end of us". He will
say: "Verily you shall abide forever" (43:77). They also call upon to
the keepers of Hell: "Call upon your Lord to lighten for us the punihment
for a day." They will ask: "Did there not come to you your Messengers
with clear evidences. "Yes". They will reply, "Then call (as you
like) but in vain." (40: 50 & 51). They will not see a friend or
protector or a helper to rescue or to reduce the punishment. (33:65).
Their food and drink:
They will be given pus
(38:56) & Zaqqum food to eat. Like boiling oil, it will boil their bellies
(44: 44 to 46 & 56:52 - 54). Neither it will give nourishment, nor it will
avail against hunger (88:7). Nothing cool shall they taste therein nor any
other drink (78:24). They were made to drink boiling festering water (14: 16,
6:70 & 37:67) from a boiling spring (88:5). He will sip it unwillingly, and
he will find a great difficulty to swallow it down his throat (14:17) Their
drink will be like molten brass that scald their faces (18: 29)
The people in Paradise,
Hell and Al Araf can recognize one another. The dwellers of Hell call those who
are in the Paradise and ask for water or other provision. Allah prohibited the
favors of Paradise for the disbelievers (7:50). Allah disgraced them, because
they took the worldly life as play and amusement. (7:51 & 45:34). They
never worked for Hereafter. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten
them. (9:67). Allah’s aayath came to them, but they disregarded them, and so
this Day, they will be neglected. (20:126)
Ibn Khathir in his tafsir
has explained, “Ath-Thawri said that `Uthman Ath-Thaqafi said that Sa`id bin
Jubayr commented on this Ayah, "One of them will call his father or
brother, `I have been burned, so pour some water on me.' The believers will be
asked to reply, and they will reply, "Allah has forbidden water and
provision to the disbelievers.''
So Allah (ﷻ) has guided the believers in the Quran to
seek refuge to Allah from Hell-Fire as:
★
"O Lord! Avert from us the punishment of Hell. Verily its punishment is
grievous affliction" (25:65).
★ ''Our
Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the Here-after and save us from
the torment of the Fire''(2:201).
★ "Our Lord! We have indeed
believed, so forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of the
Fire." (3:16).
★
Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, Glory to You! Give us salvation from the torment of the
Fire. (3:191).
★
''Our Lord! surely whomsoever You admit into the Fire, You will have abased and
the harm doers shall have no
helpers'' (3:192).
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to
pray like this:
★ "O Allah! Save me from the fire of Hell ''
★
"O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave and
Hell-fire"
★
"O Allah! I ask You for Paradise and seek Your protection from the
Fire."
Ameen! Ya Rabbul Alamin!
الحمدلله
