6 Quran and Hadith [Q & H]: Quran as an
intercessar:
السلام عليكم
ورحمة الله وبركاتة
بِسْمِ
ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
In Islam intercession (shafaa'ah) refers to the act of pleading for mercy, forgiveness and elevated rank for a person to Allahuthala on the Day of Judgement. Allah revealed Quran to read, recite, remember, remind and act upon it. The Quran verses emphasize, Allah's sole authority in permitting intercession.
They are:
● Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His
permission? [2:255]
● That Day, no intercession will benefit except [that
of] one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and has accepted his
word. [20:109]
● To Allāh belongs [the right to allow] intercession
entirely. [39:44]
● And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for
another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will
compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided.[2:48 & 123]
● There is no intercessor except after His
permission. That is Allāh, your Lord, so worship Him. Then will you not
remember? [10:3]
● ..they cannot intercede except on behalf of one
whom He approves [21:28]
● You have not besides Him any protector or any
intercessor; so will you not be reminded? [32:4]
● And intercession does not benefit with Him except
for one whom He permits. (34:23).
Ahadith:
Abu Umama (RA) said he heard Propher (SAW) saying: "Recite the Qur'an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqara and Surah Al 'Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds/shades/flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. [Riyad as-Salihin 991; Sahih Muslim, 804 a]
Narrated from ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Amr that the Prophet (SAW) said: “Fasting and the Quran will intercede for a person on the Day of Resurrection........... And the Quran will say: ‘I deprived him of his sleep at night so let me intercede for him.’ Then they will intercede.” [Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3882; Musnad Aḥmad 6626]
Jabir reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The Quran is an intercessor and a truthful prosecutor. Whoever puts it in front of himself, it will lead him to Paradise. Whoever throws it behind his back, it will drive him into the Hellfire.”[Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Ḥibbān, 124]
It was narrated from Ibn Buraidah that his father told that the Propher (SAW) said: "The Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection, like a pale man, and will say: 'I am the one that kept you awake at night and made you thirsty during the day." [Sunan Ibn Majah 3781]
Abu Malik at-Ash'ari reported: The Prophet (SAW) said: Cleanliness is half of faith and Alhamdulillah fills the scale, and both Subhanallah and Alhumdulillah fill up what is between the heavens and the earth and prayer is a light and charity is proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. [Sahih Muslim, 223]
