63. Why has Allah created man?
What Quran is telling about that?
بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
Answer: Allah has been creating
man in order to worship Him. He says this, in Quran like this: “I have not
created the jinn and humankind except that they worship Me” (Adh- Dhariyat,
51:56).
But the very next verses He
says: "I seek not any provision from them nor do I ask that they should
feed Me. Verily, Allah is the All- Provider, Owner of Power, the Strongest." (51:57 & 58). Allah created us to Glorify
Him and Praise Him only for our success. Not that He want our worship. So many
angels worship Him all the time and fulfil their purpose of creation. Then why
He created man to worship Him?
We love to have a life with
wealth, beauty, praise, children, peace, happiness etc. We waste our time in
doing so many unnecessary things. We set a goal in life and we focus all our
time to achieve that worldly success. Just think how much time of our life we spend
in worshiping. We never consider the worship, as our priority.
Let us see the situation
at which Allah created the first man, Adam (AS):
“Allah created man from
sounding clay of altered black smooth mud (Al-Hijr, 15:26 & 28, 6:2, 23:12,
37:11, 55:14) with “His two Hands.” (Suad, 38:75). No creation possesses such
distinction. Creating man is the direct, unmitigated creative act of Allah.
“He created man of the best
stature (mould)”, (At-Tin, 95:4) “fashioned perfectly, and gave due proportion;
in whatever form He willed, He put him together”. (82:7 & 8).
“Then He had made him
upright and breathed into him of His spirit” (38:72, 32:9, 15:29). “He gave man
hearing, sight and heart.” (As-Sajda, 32:9).
“Then Allah, the very Best
of those who create - placed him as a drop in a fixed resting place, made the
drop into a clot and then to a fetus. He made bones clothed with flesh and from
that brought forth another creation.” (23:12−14).
"It is He Who has
created mankind from a single person, and has given a place of residing (on the
earth or in your mother's wombs) and a place of storage [in the earth (in your
graves) or in your father's loins]. (Al-Anaam, 6:98)
After creating man, he raised him above all His creations:
After creating Adam (AS)
"The Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man from
sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. " (Al-Hijr,15:28). Then said to
the angels: "Verily, I am going to place them generations after
generations on earth." They asked: "Will You place therein those who
will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and
thanks and sanctify You?"
Allah replied: "I know
that which you do not know."(Al-Baqara, 2:30).
"Then He asked angels to prostrate to Adam (AS)." (15: 29). All except Iblis prostrated. Iblis became an open enemy and made Adam and his wife to be thrown away from heaven to earth. They prayed to Allah to forgive them. Then certain attributes of Allah ( like Al Ghafoor and Ar Rahaman) became manifested. Because angels never did anything wrong. They won't ask pardon.
Then He send the Messengers,
whenever people went astray. Each one told to their people "Worship none
but Allah; truly, I fear for you the torment of a mighty Day." (Al-Ahqaf,
46: 21).
Allah guided men
through their Messengers:
"O mankind! Worship
your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you
may become Al-Muttaqun (Al-Baqara, 2:21).
"Worship none but
Allah" (Fussilat, 41:14). "Verily, Allah! He is my Lord and your
Lord. So worship Him (Alone). This is the Straight Path. (Az- Zukhruf, 43:64). "Worship Allah
(Alone and none else), and be among the grateful. '' (Az-Zumar, 39:66)
"He is the Ever Living,
‘La ilaha illa Huwa’, so invoke Him making your worship pure for Him
Alone.' (Ghafir, 40: 65)
"Prostrate not to the
sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship
Him."(Fussilat, 41:37)
"Did I not ordain for you, O Children of Adam! that
you should not worship Shaitan. Verily, he is a plain enemy to you. And that
you should worship Me. That is a Straight Path. (Ya Seen, 36: 60 & 61)
"Invoke Me, I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!"(Ghafir,40:60)
Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "I
have been forbidden to worship those whom you worship besides Allah, since
there have come to me evidences from my Lord, and I am commanded to submit (in
Islam) to the Lord of the 'Alamin. (Ghafir, 40:66).
"Call you upon Allah
making (your) worship pure for Him (Alone)” (Ghafir,40:14).
When the man denies the
recompense, Allah asks them: "Did you think that We had created you in
play (without any purpose)?” (Al-Mumenoon, 23:115).
"Does not man remember
that We created him before, while he was nothing? (Maryam, 19:67).
"O man! What has made
you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous?" (82:6)
"Little is the thanks
you give!" (As-Sajda, 32:9)
Allah reminds us, “Does not
the human see that We made him from a drop of sperm? Then lo, he becomes a
rebellious disputant who sets before Us parables and forgets his [lowly]
origin” (36:77− 78).
"So He reduced him to
the lowest of the low " (At-Tin, 95:5).
He says to disbelievers: “And
surely, We have created many of the jinn and mankind for Hell. They have hearts
where-with they understand not, and they have eyes where-with they see not, and
they have ears where-with they hear not (the truth). They are like cattle, nay
even more astray; those! They are the heedless ones” [al-A’raaf 7:179]
So:
“O mankind! Be dutiful to
your Lord, Who created you from a single person, and from him He created his
wife, and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah.”
(An-Nisa, 4:1). “He has given you a place of residing (on the earth or in your
mother's wombs) and a place of storage [in the earth (in your graves) or in
your father's loins]”. (Al-Anaam, 6:98).
You Be Like:
"Those who remember
Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their
sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying):
"Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You!
Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:190 & 191]
"And why should I not
worship Him, Who has created me and to Whom I shall be returned." (Ya
Seen, 36:22)
