58.. "My Lord! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!"
- رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
Who invocated this dua?
بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
Answer: Musa
(AS)
A man running, from the farthest end of the city informed: "O Musa (AS)! Verily,
the chiefs are taking counsel together about you, to kill you”,
and asked him to escape. He further said, “Truly, I am to you of those who give sincere
advice." ( Al-Qasas,
28:20). So
he escaped from there, looking about in a state of fear. He said:
"My Lord! Save me from the people who are Zalimun!" (28:21). And
when he went towards Madyan he said:
"It may be that my Lord guides me to the Right
Way." (28:22)
And when he arrived at the well of Madyan he found there, a group of men
watering their flocks, and besides them he found two women who were keeping
back (their
flocks). He
said: "What
is the matter with you?" They said:
"We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take (their flocks). And our father is a very old man." (28:23).
So he watered (their flocks) for them, then he turned back to shade, and said: "My
Lord! Truly,
I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!" (28:24 ).
Then there came to him one of the two women, walking shyly. She said:
"Verily, my father calls you that he may reward
you for having watered (our flocks) for us."
So when he came to him and narrated the story,
he said: "Fear you not. You have escaped from the people who are Zalimun” (28:25). And
said one of the two women:
"O my father! Hire him! Verily, the best of men for you to hire is the
strong, the trustworthy." (28:26). Her father said: "I intend to wed one
of these two daughters of mine to you, on condition that you serve me for eight
years, but if you complete ten years, it will be (a favour) from you. But I intend not to place you under a difficulty. If
Allah will, you will find me one of the righteous." (28:27). Musa (AS) said:
"That (is settled) between me and you whichever of the two terms I
fulfill, there will be no injustice to me, and Allah, over what we say is
Witness" (28:28).
This dua was recited before his Prophet hood. From the above incidence the following can be
learnt:
Musa always turn to Allah at every step of his life! (Turning towards Him). When he killed accidently a man from Firaun's
people he repented much to his Ghafurur Raheem (28:16) (Repentance). When he escaped from Miser he prayed to save him
from the wrong doing people (28:21) (Seek refuge and guidance from Allah). As he was walking a long distance towards Madyan
he accepted that adversity as Allah's creed. (Submission). When he came to the well of Madyan he helped the
two shy girls to draw water for their flocks. (His helping tendency).
Then he invocated the above said dua (28:24) in which he never specifically asked his needs. During
that time, he was alone, travelled for a long distance, with no food, no money
and no home. He left the luxurious life in Firaun's palace. He
asked, "I am in need", so Allah bestowed
him with whatever good he wishes for him. Allah the One who heard his invocation gave him
immediately:
● a Shepard’s job
● a wife
● a house
● caring and counselling father-in
law
● sister-in-law
● the
prophet hood after eight years.
See what a powerful dua1 Musa (AS) never hesitant to take whatever Allahuthala
bestowed on him. That was Allah's will. Allah made him to grow along with Israelites, as
a simple and God fearing person, as well as a prince in Firaun's palace and now
He wants to train him as a shepherd. Most of the prophets were shepherds. As
the shepherds were leading very simple life, they were hardworking, caring,
patient, responsible and challenging any type of risk at any time.
