38." …………………  advised his son: "Join not in worship others with Allah. Verily joining others in worship with Allah is a great sin".

Answer:  Luqman (31:13)

                       بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Luqman advised his son: "Join not in worship others with Allah. Verily joining others in worship with Allah is a great sin". (Luqman, 31:13). Be grateful to Allah and to both your parents. (31:14).  He also said: "O my son! If anything be equal to weight of a grain of mustard seed and though it be in rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Verily, Allah is Subtle (in bringing out that grain) well Acquainted with its place (31:16). "O my son! Establish prayer, enjoin goodness and forbid evil and bear with patience upon whatever befalls you. Verily these are some of the important commandments by Allah" (31:17). "And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily Allah likes not any arrogant booster. And be moderate in your walking and lower your voice. Verily the harshest of all voices is the braying of the asses" (31:18 and19).

According to Islam associating partners with Allah is a great sin. Allah is one. There is no god besides Him. Allah has emphasized this repeatedly in Quran as the first commandment. He says in Quran in the following way:

• “……associate not any partners with Him” - (3:64, 4:36, 6:151, 18:110, 30:31)

• “in the mosque invoke not any one along with Allah”. - (72:18)

• " Allah is but one God, fear Me and Me alone.” (16:51)

• “....turning in repentance to Him, and fear Him and establish prayer and do not be of those who associate others with Allah.” - (30:31).

•"I am commanded to worship Allah, and not to join partners with Him. Unto Him do I call, and unto Him is my return." - (13:36).

•"and stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." Because Allah says, " woe to those who join gods with Allah” - (41:6).

•" ...when He removes the distress from you, behold! some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord, but soon you will know (your mistake)! " - (16: 54 and 55).

• “Associating partners with Allah is Shirk. It is the most heinous sin” (4:48). “Such persons are strayed far, far away (from the right).” (4:116),

• "Without doubt you do call to one who is not fit to be called to, whether in this world, or in the Hereafter; our return will be to Allah.” (40:43)

• " Allah says to those people - "Do you see what it is you invoke besides Allah. Show me what it is they have created on earth, or have they a share in the heavens bring me a book (revealed) before this, or any remnant of knowledge (you may have), if you are telling the truth!” - (46:4)

• “Those gods whom you worship have no least power.” - (35:13).

• “They have no power of providing them, for sustenance, with anything in heavens or earth and cannot possibly have such power.” - (16:73).

• “They will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). On the Day of Judgment, they will reject and none can inform you like [one] Aware [of all matters].” (35:14)

• “…if anyone assigns partners to Allah, is as if he had fallen from heaven and been snatched up by birds, or the wind had swooped (like a bird on its prey) and thrown him into a far- distant place.” – (22:31)

•".....all that they did, would be vain for them." - (6:88)

•"......your work (in life), will be truly fruitless and you will surely be in the ranks of those who lose (all spiritual good)". - (39:65).

•"He will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode."  - (5:72)

• "He will be asked, “Throw into a severe penalty." - (50:26)

•”They should be thrown into Hell, blame worthy and rejected.” - (17:39)

• “And who is more astray than one who invokes besides Allah, such as will not answer him to the Day of Judgment, and who (in fact) are unconscious of their call (to them)?” - (46:5) “Allah will reject their worship (altogether)!” - (46:6)

• “And when those who associated others with Allah see their "partners," they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke [in worship] besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars.” - (16:86)

• " We will say to those who associated others with Allah, "[Remain in] your place, you and your 'partners.’ Then We will separate them, and their ‘partners’ will say, "You did not used to worship us, it was not us that you worshipped! - (10:28) we were totally unaware of your worship.” (10:29)

When Allah created Adam, He wiped Adam's back and every person that He will create from him until the Day of Resurrection fell out from his back. Allah asked them, “Am I not your Lord?” They replied, “Yes, You are! We testify.” He cautioned, “Now you have no right to say on Judgment Day, ‘We were not aware of this.’ (7:172).  Iyad bin Himar (RA) said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Allah said, `I created My servants Hunafa' (monotheists), but the devils came to them and deviated them from their religion, prohibiting what I allowed.” Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas bin Malik (RA) said that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “It will be said to a man from the people of the Fire on the Day of Resurrection, `If you owned all that is on the earth, would you pay it as ransom' He will reply, `Yes.' Allah will say, `I ordered you with what is less than that, when you were still in Adam's loins, that is, associate none with Me in worship. You insisted that you associate with Me (in worship).” This was recorded in the Two Sahihs

Prayer: “O Allah I seek refuge in You from knowingly associating partners with You, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which I do not know.
