What is “Cursed tree” and "Forbidden tree" in Islam?

Answer: Cursed tree, the one in hell, is the Tree of Zaqqum. The other one is the forbidden tree in Paradise.

Tree of Zaqqum:

Zaqqum is not merely a tree; it is a divine symbol of retribution. It is a powerful symbol of the painful, organic consequences of evil deeds in the Hereafter,

It is mentioned in the following Aayaath of Quran:

Ayath, 17:60 : "We had said to you: 'Your Lord has encompassed the people.' We did not make the vision that We showed you except as a test for the people, and the tree that was cursed in the Quran. We alert them, but it only increases their transgression."

Ayaath 37:62-68: Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqūm? Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.

Ayaath, 44:43 to 46: Indeed, the tree of zaqqūm will be the food of the evildoer. Like molten metal, it will boil in the bellies, like the boiling of hot water.

Ayath, 56:52: Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, will be eating from trees of zaqqūm filling up ˹your˺ bellies with it.

Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn Abbas said:

When the Messenger of Allah told them that he had seen  Paradise and Hell, and seen the Tree of Zaqqum, they did not believe that, and Abu Jahl, upon whom be the curses of Allah, even said, "Bring us some dates and butter,'' and he started eating them and saying, "Let us have some Zaqqum, we don't know any other Zaqqum but this. This was narrated by Ibn Abbas, Masruq, Abu Malik, Al[1]Hasan Al-Basri and others.

Instead of being  afraid with this warnings it only increases the evil doers - misguidance, oppression and disobedience to Allah.

Forbiden  tree in the Paradise:

The forbiden tree in heaven is not directly mentioned in the Quran as cursed tree. This tree was a divine test to Adam (AS) and his wife. Allahuthala said to Adam (AS) and his wife in Paradise, "Do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers." [2:35]

But "Shaithan whispered to them; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?" [20:120]. "Your Sustainer has forbidden you this tree, lest you two become [as] angels, or lest you live forever.”[7:20].

And they [i.e., Adam and his wife] ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred. [20:121]

Shaithan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. [2:36].

Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him]. [20:122].

الحمدلله
