السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة
بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
The story of a killed Israelite:
During the time of Musa (AS) a greedy nephew killed his heirless rich uncle in the night and placed the dead body on some other's door. The next day, he came out of his house crying, saying that somebody killed his uncle. They were blaming one another, disputing and fighting. As per advise, they went to Musa (AS), to find out who the murderer was.
Allah instructed Musa (AS) to declare to them, "to slaughter a cow and with that cow’s body part if they strike, the dead man gets up and tell who the murderer was.” The Bani Israel were always stubborn, disobedient, mistrusted Musa (AS) and asked many questions, which he answered. Finally, saying “Now you have brought the truth” they went to get the cow though they were near to not doing it. (2:71).
The story of the yellow cow:
The Children of Israel, went out in search of such a cow. They found a cow with the orphan boy, with all requirements. This boy’s father was a very pious man. On his death bed, the man surrendered and said, “O Allah, I place my wife, my little son, and my only possession, a calf, in Your care.” He asked his wife to leave the cow into the nearby forest. As the boy reached an appropriate age, her mother asked him to get that yellow cow from the forest.
The Bani Israel found the appropriate cow, they bargained with this orphan boy twice with very low price. The irritated boy declared, “I will not sell the cow without my mother’s approval, even if you offered me its skin filled with gold!” Upon hearing this, his mother said, “Let that be the price.” The Children of Israel paid a heavy amount because of their choice of the cow, by their unnecessary questions, instead of any cow. They agreed and bought the cow, by filling its skin with gold.
With the part of the slaughtered cow, they stroked it on the dead man. The dead man at once resurrected by Allah’s command and revealed that the truth. Immediately he died again.
