70. Why Allah revealed an ayath
inside the Kaabathullah on the Day of Conquering of Makka? What is that Ayath?
بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِٱلرَّحِيمِ
Answer: Because the Prophet ﷺ
intended to give the Key of Kabathullah to his uncle Abbas ibn Muthallib, on
his request, along with the responsibility supplying water to pilgrims. But
Allah’s plan was something different. So Allah send Jibreel (AS) inside the
Kabathullah and revealed this ayath, "Verily! Allah ﷻ commands that you
should render back the trusts to those, to whom they are due; and that when you
judge between men, you judge with justice. Verily, how excellent is the
teaching which He (Allah) gives you! Truly, Allah is Ever All-Hearer, All-Seer.”(4:58).
Before Hijrah, once the
Prophet ﷺ like to visit inside of the
Holy Kabah with his Campanian. That time the key was with a Quraish called
Uthman ibn Thalha who has not embraced islam yet. He never gave the key,
instead, used some harsh words to the Prophet ﷺ.
The Prophet ﷺ tolerated the harsh words and said: "O
Uthman! A day will come, perhaps the keys would be in my hand. I shall have the
power to give it to any one I select.'' He replied: "If this happens, the
Quraish be all uprooted and disgraced." The Prophet ﷺ said: "No, the Quraish will then be all
established and very honourable indeed."
During the time of Jahaliya
(ignorance) the duty of Hajj and Holy Kaabah was allotted to different tribes
of Quraish. Abbas (RA) the uncle of Prophet ﷺ
was given duty of providing water and Uthman ibn Thalha was looking
after Kabah so the key was with him.
Years went the Prophet
Mohammed ﷺ conquered Makka. There was a Hadhees saying that Abbas (RA)
requested his nephew Nabi ﷺ to entrust
the key to him so that his family can do both the duties. Prophet peacefully
entered Makka and went to Kabah. He wants to remove all the idols inside the
Kabah before perfoming Thawaf. So he sent Ali (RA) to get key from Ibn Talha,
who was hiding while Muslims entered and conquered Makka. Ali (RA) found him
and asked him politely the key of Kabathullah. But he refused to give and Ali
(RA) snatched the key and gave to the Prophet ﷺ
and the Prophet ﷺ went inside, removed all the statues and
performed two rakath prayer. After that time Allahuthala has been revealed this
ayath as he was inside the Allahuthala's House.
As he was coming out of
Allah's house, he was reciting this ayath and asked Ali (RA) to return the key
to Uthman saying to him, ‘Here you are,
it is yours now and always and he asked pardon for the way he snatched the key.
Uthman was amazed by this and asked for Ali (RA) the happenings. Ali (RA)
recited to him, this verse, that was revealed.
Immediately Uthman (RA)
recited Shahadha and the Prophet ﷺ said to him: "Here take it. Now this
key will always remain with your family right through the Last Day. Anyone who
will take this key from your family will be a tyrant." He also said that
he will get money for that service according to the rule set by the Shariah of
Islam.
Subhaanallah! What an honour
and recognition Allah gave to this man! For he did a great deed that earned
Allah's pleasure and reward for his descendants also. Upon his death, he gave
the key to his brother Shayba, and thus the key remained for about Fourteen and
half Century with his descendants and still with them. The Southy Government
has been giving police protection for this family. Even the king of Saudi
Arabia get key from this blessed family to enter into the Kabah. See how
Allah's command was followed so long! And nobody can change Allah ﷻ's words!
Subhaaallah!
With mixed feeling of
happiness and tears ibnTalhah was walking with the keys, then the Prophet ﷺ called him again and said: "Remember!
Did I not tell you something way back? Has it come to pass or has it not?"
"Yes" he said: "A day will come when you will see the key in my
hand." Ibn
Uthman Ibn Talhah submitted:
"Yes! There is no doubt about it. Your word has come true."
Thus this ayath that was
revealed in specific situation, Allah, the Great Teacher teaches the following
to whole humanity:
★ Allah has commanded us to return the trust to the people it belongs, do not intervene in it and avoid betrayal.
★ Allah also has commanded us to fulfill all types of our trusts entrusted to us.
★
When you judge between men, judge with justice.
★
judge between the people properly and give the responsibility.
★
The teaching which Allah gives you is always excellent! Follow it.
★
Allah is Ever All-Hearer, All-Seer. Fear Him.
★
Obey Allah & obey the Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) and those of you (Muslims) who
are in authority.
★
If you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Quran and Sunnah.
★
Believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for
final determination.
